This health drink is rich in potassium contents. Potassium is believed to help in blood pressure regulation and heart function. Bananas are rich in fiber that aids in good and easy digestion. Meanwhile strawberries also contain good vitamins, fibers and are good sources of antioxidants and pineapples provide you the daily requirement of vitamin C that your body needs.

Ingredients:

ü  1 cup fat-free, plain yogurt

ü  6 medium strawberries

ü  1 cup pineapples crushed, canned in juice

ü  1 medium sized banana

ü  1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

ü  4 ice cubes

 

Procedure: Combine all ingredients in the blender and blend altogether until smooth
Serve in frosted glass
Makes 3 servings

Organique Acai Smoothie

Acai berries contain a healthy ingredient used in making nutritiously delicious smoothies. It has high concentration of dietary fibers that helps sweep away harmful toxins in the body. Acai also contains essential omega-3,6 and 9 fatty acids that help prevent heart attacks and strokes by lowering total cholesterol levels in the body (bad cholesterols LDL) while increasing the good cholesterol levels(HDL). It is said that acai berries are rich in antioxidants that help fight against damaging free radicals in the body.

Ingredients:

ü  1 Tablespoon flax seed

ü  1 package of frozen acai pulp (3.5 oz)

ü  1 cup blueberries, raspberries and blackberries

ü  ½ cup low-fat plain yogurt or ice

ü  1 teaspoon honey

ü  1 banana

ü  ½ cup skim, 1% or soy milk

Preparation:

 

Using a motor or spice grinder, crush flaz seeds into a course powder.
Combine the remaining ingredients, including ground flax in a blender.
Mix until smooth. Taste and adjust if necessary.

 

Peachsicles from the American Heart Association recipe

Ingredients:

ü  8.25-ounce light sliced peaches fruit juice in can, drained

ü  1 cup fat-free or low-fat plain yogurt

ü  ¼ cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed (about 2 ounces)

ü  2 teaspoons honey

ü  ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation: Cut the peaches into bit-sized peaches. Put 3 pieces in each of four paper or plastic 5-ounce juice cups. Transfer the remaining peaches to a small bowl.
Stir the remaining ingredients into the bowl with the peaches. Pour into the juice cups.
Insert a wooden popsicle or craft stick into the center of each cup. Cover the cups with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, allowing the sticks to poke through the covering. Put the cups with the stick side up on a level surface in the freezer. Freeze for 3 hours, or until solid.
To serve. Peel or cut the paper or plastic from the frozen pops.
